A hearing screening is a brief test of tones (usually taking less than 5 minutes to complete) at a pre-specified level.
A full hearing assessment uses a combination of tests to evaluate the minimum levels of sound a person can hear.
What is the difference between a hearing aid and an amplifier?
Hearing aids are sophisticated devices that receive sound through their microphones, use a microchip to categorize and process sound, and produce adjusted sound that is tailored exactly to the needs of the person with hearing loss. Amplifiers also receive sound through a microphone, but since they have no tailored settings, they simply make all sounds louder.
