Co-morbidities of Hearing Loss, Tinnitus and Cognitive Decline

Hearing loss and tinnitus rarely exist in isolation. This 7-hour continuing education course explores common health conditions and risk factors associated with hearing loss, tinnitus and cognitive decline, and what those relationships mean for hearing healthcare providers.

The course examines the evidence connecting hearing health with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease, autoimmune disease, obesity/poor nutrition, smoking, thyroid dysfunction, traumatic brain injury, depression, sleep disorders, vision impairment and neurologic disease.

The emphasis is not on diagnosing or treating these conditions, but on helping hearing healthcare providers better understand the patient behind the audiogram, provide evidence-based patient education, recognise factors that may influence hearing and tinnitus care, and identify when referral to another healthcare professional may be appropriate.
